What are the top three reasons to finding an alternative energy source?

I want to know the top three reasons as to why an alternative energy source should be found. what are they?

1. The price of gasoline is skyrocketing.

We need to have a renewable source of energy as "Peak Oil" seems to be upon us.
We need to use energy that produces less CO2 emissions so we can slow the rate of global warming.
We, as a nation, need to produce more of our own energy rather than import it from countries that like our money more than they do us.
First of all, nonrenewable resources such as coal, natural gas, & oil are fossil fuels which are major contributors to global warming, air pollution, & thermal inversion. If these 3 are not the biggest shout out to you, than I cannot help you!
Reduce carbon emissions for environmental reasons.
Reduce our dependency on foreign energy (oil), for political and financial reasons.
Find a source of energy that will not be depleted, such as solar and wind.

* The government-dictated preference for corn-based ethanol and other biofuels is causing massive land overuse, soaring food prices, and increased hunger in the poorest places

* Hormones from contraceptive and "morning after" pills are literally being flushed into rivers and causing bizarre sexual malformations in fish — and why, for once, there has been no outcry from liberals
* Yellowstone in flames: Liberal-inspired management programs in the Forest Service and the National Parks have led to major wildfires — including a near—catastrophic one in the nation’s crown jewel, Yellowstone Park
* Getting the Green: the environmental movement is funded by industries that reap enormous profits from environmental laws and regulations
* Censorship, manufactured outrage, and even phony "science" are being used to cut short the debate over global warming
Finding alternative energy sources will cost us big for a while. As the requirements to produce alternate energy sources gets greater the price for traditional Emery sources will sky rocket.
For the US it doesn’t pay to invest in new refineries or other mean to help produce gasoline more efficiently. There is so much pressure for alternative energy and the government is hoping aboard. You can’t expect an oil company to invest in ways to make current energy cheaper if you tell them they will soon have to switch over to a new source. They will invest in the future not the present. That will leave oil and gas production to other countries who can raise the price at will. Many of these countries will worry more about profit than the environment, things will get much worse and may or may not get any better.
Finding alternate energy sources is good but there will be some pain and expense along the way.
